As time goes on and default reality becomes increasingly constellated with digital gizmos, it behooves us at Great Lakes Experimental Arts to both participate and to be clear with our community *how* we are participating. In other words: At GLEA, we use apps that use your data. You should know how we handle it and who receives information about you.
What is Volunteeripate? Volunteeripate.lakesoffire.org is our one-stop shop for volunteerism at Lakes of Fire. Coming in 2023, this service will reduce paperwork for the community at large and simplify data handling across departments. It is a software project developed, owned, and maintained by Lakes of Fire volunteers who operate it without profit.
Effective November 1st, 2022
Volunteeripate provides an event organization tool to events. These events designate (by employment or by voluteering) users to interact with the website (“event staff”) as stewards of the event.
What We Collect (and How it is Used and Shared)
When you create an account with Volunteeripate your email, birthday, first and last names will be shared with event staff. This information is required for determining ticket eligibility and verifying your information upon entering an event. No other user account information is shared with any other 3rd parties. You may also provide other account information. We also store your user account preferences and settings.
Content you submit
We collect the content you submit to the Services. Allowed uploaded media (JPG, JPEG, PNG, PDF and GIF) is stored in a secure folder. This content is made available to event staff for review. No submitted content is shared with any 3rd parties.
Actions you take
We collect information about the actions you take when using the Services. This includes your interactions with content, like volunteering. It also includes your interactions with other users, such as ticket transfers and directed tickets.
If you purchase products or services from us (e.g., a ticket), we will collect certain information from you, including your name, email address, and information about the product or service you are purchasing. Volunteeripate uses industry-standard payment processor services (for example, Stripe) to handle payment information.
You may choose to provide other information directly to us. For example, we may collect information when you fill out a form, apply for a role, request customer support, or otherwise communicate with us.
Log and usage data
We may log information when you access and use the Services. This may include your IP address, user-agent string, browser type, operating system, referral URLs, device information (e.g., device IDs), device settings, mobile carrier name, pages visited, links clicked, the requested URL, and search terms. Except for the IP address used to create your account and IP address used to sign waivers, Volunteeripate will delete any IP addresses collected after 100 days.
