PNinja Panthers Needed

Do you find yourself bombing (carefully) around the lake on your singular battery-powered wheel?
Our Perimeter Ninjas are looking to recruit talented one-wheel users (who would bring their own machine) to be a part of their Ninja Panthers crew.
If you’ve always wanted to foil miscreants by enabling urgent communication, contact the PNinja team!
Art Grants Open December 15th
The core of Lakes of Fire is the experiences we provide each other, and our Art Grants play a critical role in helping people bring beauty and their unique style to Lakes of Fire.
We’re so excited to share that Art Grant applications are opening December 15th!
To apply for funds to create art for Lakes, you’ll want to sign the Art Grant Waiver in Volunteeripate, and then fill out the Art Grant application form in the same place (once it’s open).
Art Grant Forms close at 11:59pm (Eastern) on Jan 11th.
Changes Coming to Our Facebook Group
Starting January 30, 2026, the Lakes of Fire Facebook Group will become a one-way communication tool.
Only Info_Bot leads and moderators will be able to post, and all posts will have comments turned off. This means the page will function similarly to our other official social media channels and be used solely to distribute key information that is also available on our website and in our newsletters.
This decision was not made lightly, and we want to share why it’s happening now with as much transparency and care as we can:
Why the Change?
- AI Integration by Facebook: Facebook has begun integrating AI features into all groups, including automated moderation, and we’ve heard clearly from many in our community that they prefer not to engage with platforms using AI in this way.
- Equity of Access: There is a growing perception, whether real or perceived, that those active on Facebook receive information faster or have an unfair advantage to important information. We want to eliminate that misconception by ensuring that no information is only available on Facebook.
- Consistency Across Platforms: By shifting to one-way communication on Facebook, we align it with how we already use other channels like Instagram, TikTok, and BlueSky, making sure everyone gets the same information, regardless of where they engage.
- Information Integrity: In an environment where online discussions can sometimes lead to confusion or misinterpretation, especially when timelines are curated differently for each user, it’s more important than ever to provide consistent, centralized updates.
We understand this may feel like a loss, especially for those who have built strong connections through the Facebook page. While this space is changing, community connection remains a priority. If you’re looking for more interactive engagement, we invite you to join our community Discord, where conversations can continue in a more direct and participatory environment.
Other Facebook groups such as the Ride Share group and the Lost and Found page may remain active, as they serve specific logistical purposes outside of our central communication strategy.
We know transitions like this can be hard, and we’re grateful for your understanding as we adapt to a shifting digital landscape. Our leadership team stands behind this decision as a necessary step toward creating a more inclusive, fair, and accessible community for everyone.
Thank you for being a part of this community, and for your continued care, curiosity, and collaboration as we grow and evolve together.
With warmth and respect,
Info_Bot

There’s nothing like the memory of drifting on the lake, as the beats and bodies bump around you, to make shoveling the snow just a little bit more tolerable in December. The nights are long and dark, but the Leads have had their annual Leads Retreat to discuss what’s to come for Lakes of Fire 2026, and we can’t wait to be Home with you once again. If you’d like to contribute to event organization throughout the year, please apply here or reach out to a department lead.
If you’re not receiving the Lakes Letter (this thing!) in your inbox each month, consider signing up. It’s your best source to stay up-to-date on all the details. While you’re there, sign up for volunteering updates from individual departments if you’d like.
May your nights be cozy and warm.
xoxo,
