THE EFFIGY COUNCIL

The Effigy embodies creative energy from the community, symbolically sharing breath in a ceremonial fire.

The Effigy Council is here to make sure that ceremony can happen. It is a group of experienced volunteers with the task of finding the people with the ideas and the abilities to embody the theme and spirit of the year in safely interactive and flammable art.

We are seeking ideas and submissions. It starts on a napkin any time after the theme is announced! The contest continues with more detailed drawings, with the rest of the application due in late November. The winner gets to build the Effigy this year.

There is a long and distinguished list of former council members we can call on to help your team as needed, whether that be in the building, volunteer management, lighting, etc. This group will also read the submissions, compare the plans, and interview applicants to choose the winner, who will be announced in January!
