Basic Job Requirements
NIMS IS-100
- All ESD Team members need to have their NIMS IS-100 to understand what is expected in the event of a large-scale emergency.
- Before taking the NIMS IS-100 test, you must obtain a SID number from FEMA.
- NIMS IS-200 is also very valuable for understanding the flow of small-scale Emergencies.
General ESD Volunteers
ESD RADIO DISPATCH
- The Dispatchers is responsible for taking in emergency radio information and clearly communicating it to multiple Volunteers working in the field.
- The Dispatchers must also maintain a log of activities that occur over multiple radio channels
- The Dispatcher may also be responsible for Calling 9-1-1 and summing Fire/EMS/Police as requested.
- Dispatchers will also provide the co-dispatcher with a rest-room and/or Food break as needed.
Scribe
- The Scribe is used to take notes regarding visitors to the Med tent and may be asked to answer the emergency radio if needed to do so.
- The Scribe will be responsible for reminding the Cart crews to turn in Patient Care Reports.
- Scribe shifts shall listed as ‘Accessible’ and will be at the ESD tent.
Crisis Intervention Team
CIT Listener
- New Requirement: Strong background in mental health (certificate or direct client contact experience in areas like counseling, coaching, harm reduction, strong communication skills, Emerald/Green Dot Ranger training).
- Shifts remain at the ESD tent (4 or 6 hours).
- Two Listeners per shift will work as a team.
- Action Required: Current and New CIT Listeners MUST fill out the new application and resubmit credentials:
CIT MHA
- New Requirement: Licensure in the Mental Health Field (Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Therapist, etc.) with direct client contact experience.
- Position is a 24-hour on-call shift.
- Will be called upon for critical incidents beyond CIT Listeners and Emerald Rangers (e.g., non-consensual assaults, death, serious injury, CISD, suicide ideations).
- Important Change: Current MHA shift approvals will be removed if the new application is not completed.
- Current Approved MHA holders will also have CIT Listener approval.
- If you only want to do a 4 or 6-hour shift, sign up as a CIT Listener.
- Action Required: To be considered for the MHA position, fill out this form.
The Sanctuary Tent is used by the Listeners and the MHAs.
Fire
Fire I
- The Fire I position is for Volunteers who have completed the FIRE 101 class
- Fire I Volunteers should have a CPR/AED/FA card or greater.
Fire II
- The Fire II Position for Active or Retired Firefighters (Structeral, Woodland, Industrial, Military, ect).
- Fire II Volunteers should have a CPR/AED/FA card or greater.
- Must show Proof of Certification or Licensure.
Fire Cart & Bunker Team is not a position but rather a placement for the Fire I or II team member to Volunteer.
Medical
Med I
- This Position is for Medical Volunteers who hold Certs in First Aid, Wilderness First Aid, CNA or EMR.
- Med I Volunteers must have a CPR card.
- Must show Proof of Certification or Licensure.
Med II
- This Position is for Medical Volunteers who hold Certs in EMT-B, Wilderness EMT, EMT-A EMT-P, RN, PLN, NP or MD.
- Med II Volunteers must have a CPR card.
- Must show Proof of Certification or Licensure.
Med Bike 1 *NEW*, Med Cart & Med Tent is not a position but rather a placement for the Med I or II team member to Voluntee
Shift Leads
- The Shift Lead is a veteran ESD member in good standing and has a strong understanding of all Standard Operating Procedures and Emergency Procedures.
- All shift leads shall hold a minimum of Fire I & Med I endorsements with NIMS 100 & 200.
